1. I am a clean freak – There is no better feeling than a clean and organized house. I love to have things organized and in a certain spot. I have to pick up the house before I can go to bed because I can’t stand waking up to a mess. Don’t get me wrong, my house is never perfect… especially with a toddler. I just function much better when things are cleaned, picked up, and organized.
2. I grew up with very little – My parents were divorced my whole life. My mom lived in Nebraska and my dad lived in Virginia. Being a mom now, and looking back, I don’t know how my parents did it alone. I do know that things weren’t easy and that my parents did the best that they could. I actually had a really tough time growing up. Between moving all the time, switching schools, and dealing with my parents struggling, things weren’t always easy. I went to school in a very wealthy part of Virginia where most kids had two parents, a nice house, and all wore Limited Too (remember those Limited Too days?!!). This was not my case, I was always sad that I didn’t have the things that they did. I was made fun of for the clothes that I wore and the things that I didn’t have. As a kid, this is so hard to go through.
I also didn’t have a very good relationship with my mom when I was younger. Today, I am closer with my mom today than ever before. After having a baby, I needed her more than ever.
All of these experiences that I went through have made me the person that I am today. Because of my past, I strive to work hard and cherish nice things. I couldn’t sit back and wait for things to happen for me. I had work hard to create the life that I wanted so badly for myself, my family and our future.
3. I graduated high school in 3 years – I was not a fan of school. I always struggled to learn and hated being the new kid all of the time. I would take every “sick” day that I could. Towards the end of high school, I begged my mom to let me drop out. I am glad she never let me do that because I took things into my own hands. I was determined to get out of there as soon as I could. I decided to take Summer school and extra classes in the mornings so that I could graduate a year early and guess what…. I DID IT!
4. I am a planner- I have to plan my days, how things are going to go, and how I am going to get them done. I am not a spontaneous person at all. I honestly wish I wasn’t like this. Although it keeps me organized and productive… I just wish I could go with the flow.
5. I met my husband when I was 18 – I always knew that I would get married young. I wanted to start my own life as soon as I could. My first impression of Zach was not exactly how I had hoped. Let’s just say.. he didn’t make the best first impression and I told myself that I would never date him (haha). Well… almost 9 years later, here we are! He somehow made up for his bad first impression and I fell in love with him. I couldn’t imagine life without him and the life that we have created together. Zach and I got engaged at 21 and married each other 11 months later. We have now been married for 5 years. We truly make the best team!
